Dude - how is it even possible that I havn't posted here since this time last year? I mean - seriously - my last post was pimping MtYG sign ups, which is exactly what I'm hear to post about, but - dude!

And, then, um, the last year in really swift retrospect? Busy, good bits, bad bits, nothing too terrible, I've just kinda been off fandom. *shrugs* It's not that I've been sucked into something else, I've just not been reading a whole lot of any kind of fanfic, and the way-not-enough writing I've been doing has mostly been original fic. There's not been as much of that this year as last, either. I'm kind of taking a plunge signing up to MtYG, but, I thought about not for a few minutes and couldn't do it - it wouldn't be Christmas without the fic-based insanity and joy, and maybe it's the kick up the butt that I need?

And, hey, I should claim last year's story, huh? Sweet Like Coffee - Chris and Nick, with a little Bandom on the side ...

It's still technically Wednesday here, and it's Wednesday for *hours* yet in the US, so if I said that I'd had a mare of a day, and that I was declaring this post a hummers-for-hump-day zone, and invited you all to leave me oral sex themed snippets featuring the guys or girls of your choice, you would, right?

Something Like August continues, and i did have this awesome idea for an icon set, but then I remembered that I have a new computer, which means I no longer have Photoshop, and that, eventually, I'm going to have to scale the learning curve on Gimp. No icons from me for a while, then. So instead I committed fiction, and by fiction I mean 'unleashed the pretty', and voila - 900 words of Joey Fatone/Ray Toro, because - I'm only human, guys. I mean, really? Look at them!

Extra sparkles to turps33 who liked this enough to declare me sane, and help polish it up some. As always, all remaining mistakes are my own, and if you see any, please tell me! (Title from DM's Freelove, which was playing and seemed very appropriate, somehow.)

Argh - off-line life ate my head for a while there, so I've very tardy claiming my remix.

I wrote beautiful: the skin deep and glitter mix (original by runzu) which, frankly, was a treat, because - Eminem! in drag! (well, okay, the process was a bit of a nightmare, and I ended up with about 2.5k of offcut sex scenes, and writing into the deadline, but the basic idea? That was a treat. I knew which story I was going to do as soon as I saw the original!)

The drag queen's hand spread out from fingertips resting on Nick's collarbone to full palm contact with Nick's pectoral, long glitter encrusted nails digging into Nick's t-shirt just a fraction.

Also, I get to thank beth666ann for the utterly utterly fabulous Puppies (the in space mix), which still gives me so much glee :D

EEEEeeeeeeeeeee! Remix #6, The Latest Thing, is live! Stories! Eeeee! - here's to the awesome bossymarmalade for making it all happen!

And whoever remixed my story, for doing such an awesome job of it.

I should confess that when randomling came and told me the stories were up last night, I was asleep on the couch, and my computer takes forever to boot, so I was all 'cool! which of my stories did they pick?' and she says 'Puppies' and I say 'huh? I have a story called puppies?', and she looks at me like a goat looking at a new fence, and hits the 'original by' link, and I read over her shoulder and am all 'Ohhh! The one with JC and Lance, and the dogs! I called that 'Puppies'? Huh. I guess I did'. By which time my computer has lurched into a zombie state, and I can get to the internet myself, so I go hunting, and read Puppies (the in space mix) , and then I more or less die of glee, because it's totally proving my theory that adding 'in space' tends to improve most things.

It's neat, and nothing like I expected, and funny, and at the core of it is someone reading my story with a lit-crit eye and seeing something I didn't put there on purpose, but which is totally there, and that fills me with so much delight I can hardly say. People should read it, and give the author feedback full of enthusiasm and happiness. Really.

In fact, all the remix stories I've read so far have been fabulous. I'll hold reccs until I've read them all, but - yeah - good going, everyone!

Maybe I should also say thank you to phaballa over at popsoundboard for setting the remix feedback challenge, which I suspect has something to do with my having had feedback on the story I wrote already - feedback that I appreciate like woah, ad want to say thank you for, but am waiting for the reveal, because somehow anon feedback is *even better* than the regular stuff, so I'm greedy and hanging out for more ;D) I'm going to make the attempt at reading and feeding all of the stories before the reveal, because I want other people to have that joy too. Remix is the challenge that seduced me before I even got into the fandom, but it's always seemed like a bit of a feedback blindspot - the challenge that produced the most red-headed-stepchildren stories, that their authors loved and not enough readers read, so it's turbo-cool to have had a lovely sprinkling of emails today. (although not yet one from the original story's author, and I know Remix isn't a gift exchange thing, but I'm always twitchy that they might hate what I did with their story, so I want to know how they feel about it, you know?)
